The guitar is famed for Knopfler's choice of wood, with the very rare Italian spruce, from the same valley where Stradivari got his wood, 'Val Di Fiemme'. The wood is rare since it's only harvested once a year, and is undergoing a traditional and long way of ageing and maturing. It's considered the ultimate tonewood for stringed instruments, and the main wood used for violins and similar instruments. But Mark Knopfler got it right, also on Guitars it shows her magic since the tonal quality of Italian spruce is unique, you will never get better trebles and overtones, and played fingerstsyle the softest touch will bring out magic. If you strum it, but then other tonewoods will deliver the same quality. The essential tone quality of Italian spruce is found in the subtle attack, not in strumming. Well Mark Knopfler is about subtlety, and this guitar is truly all the way Mark Knopfler's genious and unique tone. This guitar is in exceptional condition, it number 84 of just 251 guitars produced and it features selected Indian Rosewood, this one has a neck that measures just a bit wider than the usual 1 11/16" neck with 43.5mm(1 23/32") and comes with below specs: It includes the original Deluxe Martin Hard Case.
