Up for auction is a 2002 Gibson Les Paul Historic R8 with killer flamed maple top, excellent condition, no dents or dings, nothing worth talking about except maybe some pick swirl marks, etc. The hardware has a nice patina on it, weight is right around 8.5 lbs on a bathroom scale. The neck falls right between a 57 and 59 LP, I think most people would describe it as a medium C neck. The guitar has never been broken or damaged, all original, excellent condition. The year 2002 was a great year for historics and is highly sought after. The tops were particularly nice this year as were the finishes. This is the epitome of a 1958 Les Paul. Has all the mojo and killer tone. Guitar is currently setup with 10's and plays like butter. Comes with original hard hell Gibson case. It's not often you see an R8 with a top like this. Most of the R8's have plain tops, this is easily equal to the flame tops the R9's are famous for. Fixed shipping cost includes full insurance to the lower 48.
