Ah yes.  This is a 2012 brand new Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul 1959 R9 Standard in Factory Dark Burst VOS.  Limited to 100 pieces, the dark burst is equipped with dual Custom Buckers- possibly the first model with them, which replaced the Burst Buckers sometime in 2012.  Aniline dye, and nitro finish were some of the things done to this issue.  It has a shallow dish arch on the 2 piece top.  Solid mahogany body.  Nice hefty C profile neck (50's neck), with rosewood fingerboard.  For those of the uninformed, the 2012 models had at random a blilayered rosewood fretboard, laminated.  One cannot tell without removing the nut of the guitar.  This move as far as anyone knows, was never repeated in any other year, but who knows?  So on this model the pickups were the newly designed Burst Buckers, and the usual BB caps, CTS pots, that are part of the 59 package.  They have a long neck tenon as well.  This one weighs 8 pounds 8 ounces.  Does the laminated fretboard matter?  Apparently time has shown (5 years out), that there is not the slightest problem with these.  The perceived problem however, has depressed the prices of most 2012 Les Pauls.  However not all.  The Sandy, CC no 4 was from 2012, and purists seem to ignore the fretboard issue, bidding these babies up to 10K.  Anyhow, the Factory Bursts are beautiful guitars, and this one plays like butter, and has a mean growl to it.    We have concluded this discussion because it is not fair to withhold such information.  This guitar is perfect for a player intending to hold it and use it for a lifetime. See photos below.
