360 Systems' DigiCart/EX Ethernet Audio recorder continues a twenty-year history as a first-choice for audio spots in television broadcasting.  DigiCart/EX is more than an improvement on the original DigiCart® concept - it's a high-performance, Ethernet Audio system for integrated audio.

Networked Audio Without The Computer
No computer and no mouse - just the hands-on efficiency of real buttons for all operations.  Ethernet Audio® is the link to Mac® and PC-based audio workstations.  Now, audio programs produced on DAWs can be easily played, manually or from automation, with DigiCart/EX.  When it's time to actually move an audio file, it's many times faster than real-time.  Clear and easy to use, DigiCart/EX is designed from the ground up for broadcast professionals.DigiCart/EX Works the Same As DigiCart II
Anyone who uses DigiCart II will know how to use DigiCart/EX.  It offers better displays, better screen messages, and new networking features-but with the same familiar buttons.  It's 100% compatible with earlier DigiCart recorders, plays files produced on them, and uses similar front panel commands. All earlier DigiCart files can be played - whether Dolby AC-2, 16-bit linear, 44.1 or 48K - so valuable program content and archives can be carried forward.  DigiCart/EX can also create new files for use in DigiCart II, letting earlier hardware remain a valid part of a new facility.Make Digital Transfers to the New DigiCart/EXUse standard Zip drive to move content between DigiCart/EX's.  Higher capacity removable media means more storage and ease of file transfers. The original D-NET file transfer protocol using AES/EBU has been maintained, making it easy to move old files to DigiCart/EX.AES/EBU ports perform lossless machine-to-machine transfers.  Special 75-ohm AES/EBU ports on BNC connectors now transfer files as far as 1,000 feet.Industry standard .WAV files can be created, shared and received via the Ethernet Audio system.New Editing Tools
DigiCart/EX provides a faster way to edit audio.  Edits can always be undone, and trim points can be easily changed for a future re-edit of the cut.  DigiCart/EX provides clear indications of edit points and the present location within a cut.DigiCart/EX offers these non-destructive editing features:Head trimsTail trimsFade-insFade-outsPre-roll timeGain changeFile Interchange With DAWs
DigiCart/EX uses .WAV files as a native format, and can accept broadcast wave (.BWF) files, as well.  It is compatible with most popular workstations, including Pro Tools®.  Using Ethernet as the file-exchange medium, DAW files can be exported in .WAV format to a 360 Systems' Ethernet Audio™ server, where they are immediately available from any DigiCart/EX terminal.Local Storage Plus Shared Network Storage
DigiCart/EX provides an extra level of reliability by storing audio files on its own local hard drive, in addition to the Ethernet Audio file server.  For example, by optionally copying files from the server to a DigiCart/EX, playback is virtually guaranteed, regardless of the status of the audio network.  Should a file used by Master Control be removed from the server, it can be played from the local hard drive on Master Control's DigiCart.Sophisticated Playlisting Capability
DigiCart EX provides the ability to create playlists from a simple spot break to a complex program lasting days or even weeks.  Playlists can be built from individual cuts or other playlists.  Rotating lists allow variations to be programmed, or operation as an "on demand" rundown list triggered by the operator or an external GPI.Great Audio Quality For Production24-Bit Quality
24-Bit Quality DigiCart/EX's 24-bit audio circuit design delivers 112 dB of dynamic range from its analog inputs.  360 Systems' Bit-for-Bit™ digital design also maintains 24-bit integrity through the AES/EBU ports, assuring error-free reproduction not only of standard PCM files, but also of Dolby® AC-3 or Dolby-E recordings.Sample Rate Compatibility
Although most users will work at a 48 kHz sample rate, DigiCart/EX is equally adept at 44.1, 88.2 and 96k.  A high-quality sample rate converter can be positioned at either the input or the output, permitting conversion of any sample rate to 48K, or any other rate.  Now 44.1, 88.2, and 96k music masters can be converted to standard 48K audio for video.Word-Length Compatibility
DigiCart/EX plays files of almost any word length - 16, 20, or 24-bit.  In addition to recording new material at 24-bits, it can also deliver 16-bit digital audio for compatibility with other digital audio products, or earlier DigiCart recorders.Mixed File Types Allowed
DigiCart/EX is able to store audio in many different formats, and play them consecutively without changing machine setup.  Any desired output format, such as 48K-16-bit, can be selected, regardless of how the original file was recorded.Serial and GPI Control
A variety of serial and parallel ports adapt DigiCart/EX to most facilities:An EIA-422 serial port accepts Digicart serial protocol, supported by almost every automation system.  It also operates with 360 Systems' RC-320 desktop remote control, and accepts Peripheral Bus (E-Mem) commands, giving DigiCart/EX direct control from many video switchers.Five optically isolated GPI inputs provide control of play, stop, record, pause, and loop.  These conform to the DigiCart II connector, making upgrades easy.DigiCart/EX® Digital Audio Recorders
A time-proven standard DigiCart recorders are hands-on machines.  Its "real" buttons, jog wheel and display make it a first choice for fast-paced operations.  For good reason, the DigiCart/EX continues as a twenty-year industry favorite.  Most users will never need to open an Operations Manual to operate DigiCart/EX.Features:Instant audio access and playout from anywhereSame familiar operations as DigiCart IIFile interchange with DigiCart IIPopular .WAV files as native formatRecord/play to local drives or network file serverHot Keys for instant-playback10,000 audio clips stored on internal hard drive100 Mb/s Ethernet interface to the network file serverLarge LCD display for 40 characters text24-bit A/D, & D/A convertersOptional use of Dolby AC-2 formatSample rates: 44.1K, 48K, 88.2K, 96KGenerates any output rate from stored filesAES/EBU Digital I/O on XLR-3 connectorsAES-3-ID 75? or IEC-958 Type II (consumer) digital I/O on BNC connectors+4 dBu analog input/output on XLR-3 connectorsOutput level trimsLED level meters with clip indicationThreshold record triggerHeadphone jack with level controlSync sources include internal crystals, AES-3, S/P DIF, AES-11Computer keyboard connectorEIA-422/485 (9-pin) remote control portStandard DigiCart II serial protocolSupports Peripheral Bus (E-Mem) serial commandsAccepts optional RC-230 remote controlFive GPI inputs with tally outputInternal hard drivePlaylisting capabilitySoftware updates via network transferRear Panel:AC Power, 115/230 volts, detachable cord with IEC connectorPower SwitchGround Lug with thumb nut (frame)Ethernet Port (100 Mbps)Keyboard portGPI Control, 25-pin D-connectorSerial Port, 9-pin EIA-422/485,Remote Control Port, 15-pin (RC-320 remote Control)Remote Bus, RS-422, 9-pin (360 Systems remote control)AES-11 Sync Input, 75-ohm BNCAES/EBU Digital Audio Input, XLR-3AES/EBU Digital Audio Output, XLR-3AES-3-ID / IEC 958 type-2 Digital audio input, BNCAES-3-ID / IEC 958 type-2 Digital audio output, BNCAnalog Audio Outputs, Balanced, +4 dBu, XLR-3Output Level Trims (2)Analog Audio Inputs, Balanced, +4 dBu, XLR-3Specifications:Audio:Audio Channels: Two, configured as one stereo pairQuantization: 16 or 24-bit, linear PCMNative File Formats: WAV, DigiCart II Linear and Dolby AC-2Data Reduction: Optional; Dolby AC-2, 48K stereoBandwidth: 10Hz to 21 kHz ±0.2 dB @ 48K sample rateSampling Frequencies: 44.1K, 48K, 88.2K, 96KDynamic Range: 112 dB typicalSignal-to-Noise: 112 dB typicalDistortion (THD+N): <0.002%Inter-channel Phase Deviation: <0.1 degree at 15kHzInter-channel Crosstalk: >90 dB at any frequencyInput Circuit: Electronically balanced, Z=20k ohms, XLR-3 femaleCommon Mode Rejection: Better than 60 dB @ 120 HzMaximum Input Level: +20 dBuLevel Metering: Quasi-peak, 14-segment LED display with clip indicationNominal Operating Level: +4 dBu (provides 16 dB headroom)Sample rate converter: 24-bit, 3:1 ratio; input or outputOutput Circuit: Balanced, Z=100 ohms, XLR-3Maximum Output Level: +20 dBuHeadphones: Front panel 1/4" (6.35mm) jack with level adjustmentDigital Audio Inputs:
