Description

This fancy soprano sized uke was made in Chicago by Lyon & Healy in the late 1920's. It's very rare to find any vintage Washburn with a pearl inlay and this one features a pearl inlaid soundhole ring. The body is made from Hawaiian Koa and you can see the special purfling all around the top and back, there is even a backstrip which is extremely rare on anything but the most high end ukulele. The neck block is stamped with the number 2511. The back of the headstock is stamped with the Style number 5319 and also 12710. There is a metal plaque that reads "Washburn Lyon & Healy" on the back of the headstock. The original "smile" pin bridge even has the original bridge pins. There is a bit of wear here and there from playing. There were a couple small cracks at the edge of the lower bout that I had repaired, and the repair included some work on a 2" section of purfling in that area. Nothing that distracts from the overall beauty of the instrument. See the pictures for more details of the condition. The original hardshell case is included, which also has a "Washburn" patch on the inside of the lid, and plush purple lining. A very special and collectable vintage ukulele..
