This is a rare Uebel aluminium bodied flute made in East Germany in 1966 whilst the country was still partitioned. The Uebel family's history of woodwind instrument making dates back to the 1870's in the Sachsen region of east Germany near the Czech border, an area long renown for musical instrument craftsmanship. Gerhard Rudolf Uebel (1915-1991) took over flute production when his uncle F. Arthur Uebel passed away in 1963. Not to be tied to simply reproducing traditional flutes, Uebel made a number of innovative instruments, beginning in the 1930's, using materials from grenadilla to aluminum. In playable state but needs definitely a clean . Original , sealing, pads, might benefit from being cleaned and oiledAnother of these was recently sold on the internet. It's the same model and the seller had this to say "This has to be one of the most particular and beautifully designed modern flutes. Made of aluminium Body Length: 44 cm - Headjoint Length: 22.5 cm, Key of C, German-silver Keywork, Aluminium Body, Silver plated Headjoint with Black Plastic Lip-Plate and Crown. by Rudolf Uebel"I know nothing about flutes and am selling this for a friend. The size is the same as above and the lip plate is black plastic. I cannot confirm the key nor whether the headjoint is silver plated.I appreciate that this is a lot of flute and therefore inspection is very welcome.
