Offered for your consideration is a circa 1930's wood body clarinet.  All pieces are marked G. Langenus New York.  I would imagine that this needs to be serviced as it looks to have been out of action for some time.  Overall it appears to be well kept with no damage.  Gustave Langenus was the solo clarinetist for the New York Symphony (until 1920) and then the New York Philharmonic (until 1923).  In 1915 he co-founded the New York Chamber Music Society.  In his day he was also the foremost authority on woodwind instruments.  He is known today mostly due to his clarinet study books.  I am unsure as to the maker of this clarinet so if anyone has any clues it would be appreciated.  Use the buy-it-now or feel free to make an offer on this fine Langenus clarinet!Info found online:  Langenus was the New York Symphony’s principal clarinetist.  He wasmost world renowned by his involvement in the transition to the Boehm keywork
system rearranging teaching method.  He was also know in his clarinet
mouthpiece design and his superb and rare clarinets.  He was
idolized by Bennie Goodman and Goodman used Langenus mouthpieces
throughout his entire career.  The mouthpieces can apparently be superb
though the quality is often overlooked by traditional clarinetists as their
design is not normal as he was known for his “duckbill” design.  His
clarinets, though quite rare, are ranked with the best in the world at his time
of the 1920s through 1940s.  The clarinets were supposedly made by the
Hofinger company.
