I bought this Martin Committee Cornet from one of my students a few years ago as a direct match for my Committee trumpet from the same year. This horn was his grandfathers and sat unplayed for almost 40 Years in a closet. It is a true time capsule/barn find with no dents or bruises and near new condition. The valves are pristine with perfect compression and the lacquer is 90% and has the darkened bronze aged patina. It has the original Martin case and mouthpiece and is a true collectors horn. I don't play it as it does not blend in my brass band and I seldom use a Cornet. I'm a player and teacher and not a collector and it deserves to be either played or in a collection not sitting in a case. The horn has been ultrasonically cleaned. The case hinges still have functional springs and the it has the appropriate musty fragrance from sitting all those years. It is of course a medium bore .453 and the deluxe model with nickel trim and ballasters. This is a rare horn that is also a great playing instrument. Serial number is 193xxx making it a 1953 or 54 model. You can buy and bid on this instrument with confidence as I am a musician and not a dealer or "horn flipper "
