Beautiful 1928 Prewar TB-3 Gibson Mastertone BanjoThis is a beautifully preserved example of a late model 1920's TB-3 with two-piece flange, (many consider the two piece far superior in design to the one piece flange, no pulling up to worry about like the one piece), it has a 40-hole archtop "Mastertone" ring, notched tension hoop, diamonds and squares inlay, and a fiddle-shaped peghead. The wood is straight-grain maple. I bought this banjo in 2007, it is the FINEST 100% original TB-3 I have seen in 40 plus years of playing banjo! (many of the ones I see either look like they have been tied to a bumper and drug down the road, or they have conversion necks that are not authentic to the Gibson Style 3). Every screw is original, I did add a new set of hooks and nuts, but you will see in the last picture the bag containing all of the original hooks and nuts they are a little tarnished, but after looking at other banjos this age they actually look darn good. Overall this banjo is TOP NOTCH! Another really cool thing is in June of 2008, I was able to go see Mr. Scruggs perform at the magical Ryman auditorium, I brought the resonator to this banjo with me, and Mr. Scruggs was gracious enough to autograph it for me, and I taped the ticket stub inside the resonator as well.***** You will be hard pressed to ever find another TB-3 completely original in as good of condition as this one!! *****Neck will be removed for shipping, and banjo will come shipped in two well packed boxes. Item will be shipped with insurance *****NOTE this banjo is for sale locally so I reserve the right to cancel this eBay listing early, if the banjo sells locally before the ending of this listing.
