You're looking at a 1996 Epiphone Joe Pass (Emperor) built in the Samick factory with upgraded heads and bridge.A beautiful Korean budget small-bodied Jazz guitar in good condition with significant upgrades. The serial indicates it to be made in the Samick factory, which are of a very high standard (the Unsung and Peerless made ones being the other quality constructors, although I have a Peerless that was made in the Samick factory - go figure). Upgrades: Hand carved ebony bridge and saddle fitted and tuned by Pete at Neptune Guitars (accredited Maton repairer). This has made the bottom end much more focused and the top a touch less brittle. The rosewood bridge is included and perhaps could be used with the ebony saddle. I have also added gold Grovers rather than the pretty ordinary tuners that were on. This is a great playing, looking and sounding jazz box and the smaller body (a-la Gibson es175) makes it a comfortable guitar to play and carry around. The neck pickup is warm and full, working well with the spruce top. It has laminated flame maple sides and back completed by a laminated maple neck supporting a rosewood fretboard. Anyone wanting to start their jazz playing career on a less expensive model - or a pro wanting an excellent small bodied spare would enjoy this well balanced, impressive guitar. Due to the upgrades it is $850 ONO. Comes in an unimpressive hard case (factory model I believe)If you are happy to go back to the factory rosewood bridge and heads its $700 ONO. Cash On Collection preferred. Available to try in Sydney or Katoomba.
