'Smells Like Teen Spirit' '69 Reissue Fender Mustang in Old Lake Placid Blue with Matching Headstock and Competition Stripes. T Serial MIJ (2007-10)You are looking at Fender’s closest approximation to the guitar Kurt Cobain played in Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' video. Kurt's was Lake Placid Blue (and obviously a lefty) and this is Old Lake Placid blue, but to me it's still pretty much as near as Fender have built to that guitar. Even Kurt's LPB signature model by Fender for some reason didn't have a matching headstock... (???) Anyway, Kurt aside, this is in itself a rare vintage specification '69 Reissue. It’s a T Serial MIJ (2007-10) in OLB with Matching Headstock & Competition Stripes. This is a great example of this hard to find guitar. It has a very easy action with a beautiful dark dense rosewood fingerboard complimented by a cream 3-ply perloid pickguard. Some wonderfully distinctive maple grain patterns all over the neck and back of headstock too. Maple graining to me is as individual as the serial number on a Fender and always wise to keep a record of. Anyway the neck is dead straight, truss rod fine with plenty of life left in the frets. No repairs or mods. Structurally and electrically perfect. She’s pre-owned so does have a few signs of being played, a few bumps here and there on the back. Complete with gig bag and correct black handled tremolo arm. Built immaculately as you'd expect from Fender Japan. A beautiful 1969 vintage specification reissue Mustang with iconic connections to Nirvana.The cost of importing something like this from Japan now with the weak £, shipping and UK’s massive import taxes would be sky high. Like all my Japanese Fenders this is an individual guitar hand selected by me from Japan, it’s not a sterile new production run guitar bought in bulk from Korea or wherever. No more of these are being built in Japan as Fender have moved production to Mexico to use cheaper labour and cut corners/costs. Don’t miss it, once she's gone she's gone. All my guitars are shipped inside their cases in padded purpose designed tough durable boxes. The guitar will reach you in perfect condition. Message for overseas shipping rates if outside UK/EU.
