Octagonal shaft no splices or repairsThe luthier described it as "School of Hill" meaning it is probably a close copy and priced accordingly since the genuine article would be priced at £4KNevertheless it has strong characteristics which offer it the "School of" descriptionFirstly the bow is English oil treated in the Hill manner with no chipping using linseed and terebinth It has been meticulously cleaned of rosin Secondly it has a solid silver face on the tipIt has a middle period Tourte style head
It also has a plain "Penny frog" with no eye in real ebony in the Hill stylefully refurbished locally with hallmarks added for online description purposes and to add reliable provenance for future generationsconfirming this as fully 925 sterling silver fitted999.99 purity solid silver lapping secured with silver based solder and black lizard gripSince it had no grip or lapping I paid for this to be done and know therefore there is no splicing or repair under the lapping .brand new white unbleached Mongolian stallion hair requiring only crushed/powdered rosin to start it up and prime it for play
