This is one that I'm going to kick myself for, but I need to free up some cash, and I've not been playing much mandolin lately, so I'm planning on downsizing to just 1 (a handmade that would be much harder to sell).I've owned this beautiful Flatiron for almost 4 years. It's a late '80s A5-Jr that I'm calling an "A5-Jr+" as it features top and back binding that this model typically would not have had. This is just after the highly coveted and more expensive Steve Carlson-signed instruments were made in the early 1980s. If this were made a couple years earlier, it would sell for $300+ more. Sweet tone, and pretty woods - what's not to like about this great mandolin?!While I've taken good care of it, it's definitely been played and has a few light scratches on the top and back. Neck is clean. First few frets show some wear on the A and E strings, but playability is great. As is the case with many of these early Flatirons, the neck angle was shallow. I like a really low action, so I replaced the bridge with a lower profile one. Most bluegrassers are going to want to raise it up from where I've got it set.Includes hard case that shows wear.
