This is an Alexander Model 103 F/Bb French Horn. The horn functions smoothly and gracefully. It sounds incredible, far better than my other horns. It's also beautiful. I am selling it because I am an amateur musician and I just cannot personally justify having such a professional horn. The bell is detachable, though it did not come from the factory as a detached bell, but I believe is is an Alexander ring. The three primary valves are string, the thumb valve is mechanical linkage. The action and air seal of the horn's valves are great. Best guess by a few other Alex players is the horn was built in the 1970s. It also says manufactured in West Germany. It doesn't have a serial number anywhere that I can find, though there is a "183" under the Alexander logo. The horn has a water key on the lead pipe, an adjustable pinky hook, and an adjustable, foldable duck foot. As I stated in the condition details, the horn has been relacquered. The job was well done on the majority of the horn, but there is some minor pitting in the bell (pictured). There are a few minuscule cosmetic spots where the lacquer is worn or damaged, but the horn doesn't appear to have any dents or damage to the brass (I tried to photograph this as well).
I am including an old horn case (I think it's a Marcus Bonna case, but it's got a International Horn Society sticker over the logo - having been an IHS member, I left it on.). It's pretty worn, but usable. I am also a member of the Horn People group on Facebook if that ads to my qualifications as a seller. :)Please read the item description, condition details and view the pictures thoroughly. I have tried to be as honest and accurate as possible. If you have any questions or would like to see photos from any other angle, please let me know and I will be happy to contact you. I will do everything in my power to make sure you have a great experience buying this horn from me. If you have technical questions, you can view them on the Alexander website, but of course, they will apply to the modern version and possible not to this one.
