Thank you for visiting this listing for a Vintage 1925 – 1931 Martin Style 1-C Concert Ukulele in very good condition. The Martin Ukulele produced in the greatest number is the Soprano (smallest size), Concert and Tenor sizes were available in 1925. In 1918, two years after Martin made it's first ukulele, they made the Taropatch, a descendant of a Portuguese instrument that was very popular in Hawaii. Legend has it that the Taropatch was very popular with Hawaiian farm workers, who mostly worked in the taro fields. This instrument, slightly larger then the ukulele, had eight strings in four courses and was tuned like an ukulele. The first recorded sale of a Martin Taropatch was August 9, 1916 and it first appeared in the Martin catalog in 1918. It proved to be less popular then the ukulele, as it was harder to play. By 1925, Martin had introduced the 1-C concert ukulele, which was the same size as the Taropatch, but had only four strings, the Concert being larger than the Soprano ukulele provided a longer string length & tension allowing an increase in volume with the bonus of a warm vocal type tone. It proved to be way more popular then the Taropatch, which was discontinued by Martin in 1932. The Concert Style 1-C ukulele specifications: M*hogany Body, Neck, & Headstock. R*sewood Body Binding 1925-1937. Dark plastic binding: 1938. 12 fret Brazilian R*sewood fretboard. Small dot inlays. Patent Tuning Pegs. Sound-hole Rosette. The original Martin Concert ukulele was discontinued in 1966 it has since been reissued. This ukulele has the R*sewood Binding, Rear Branded Headstock logo, No Front Headstock Decal logo, Bar Frets, so it should be c1925-1931. This ukulele is in wonderful vintage condition. The varnish finish shows little wear. The frets show no visible wear. The tuners turn easily, show no rust & holds key without a problem and stays in tune. The ukulele plays perfectly all the way up the neck which is arrow straight. It has an incredibly full tone with great harmonics. There are a some hard to see hairline finish cracks in the back that don't seem to go through the wood, I used the darkroom light test. There is a slight separation at the lower bout. No repairs have been made. The ukulele plays fantastic as is. The original ukulele case is the Open-Bottom, Canvas-covered Stiff Straw-board case with Flannel-lining found in the very early 1920s. It is in good condition as most of these antique cases have disintegrated. The leather straps however did not survive the near century of its existence. It would be advisable to get a hard-shell case for best protection. See pictures for further details. If you have any questions please ask before the final 24 hours of the auction. On Jun-09-16 at 08:18:17 PDT, seller added the following information:A PayPal Confirmed Address is one of PayPal's early security measures to try to insure accurate shipping to the buyer & protection for the seller. They "confirm" an address after "10 unique transactions". What the criteria is for a unique transaction I still have no idea...
If someone has a new account or a change of address they'll start or restart the confirmation process.
While there is no problem shipping to an unconfirmed address; PayPal does not offer Seller Protection for shipping to the unconfirmed address. I've been with eBay & PayPal for almost 14 years & have never had a problem shipping to an unconfirmed address. Thanks & Good luck!

In case you're unaware; eBay's shipping calculator does not calculate insurance. Insurance fees vary by location so insurance must be requested. Thanks again
