You are looking at a rare guitar that is hard to part with; I'm hoping it ends up in good hands one day. This Washburn HB-60 is super difficult to find, and considered by many to be a "holy grail" guitar for its quality and sound. The HB-60 was only made for one year.According to a high-end guitar shop in Nashville, who had never seen one in person before, I was told that "it was made in Japan at a time when many importers were moving to Korean suppliers. Japanese-made guitars from that time to the present have gained a reputation for higher quality than any other imports."The guitar is a hollowbody 6-string electric, supposedly made of Birdseye Maple wood, Sunburst style. There is also Pearl in the guitar. It has been quite hard finding detailed information on it, even online. Appraisals have ranged from $1500 to $2700, but many of them claimed that it is difficult to price it due to its rarity.A friendly fellow ebayer just sent me some additional information. He said that "the manufacturing plant in Japan was the Terada plant, which is well known for manufacturing quality guitars particularly in the 70s and 80s." He also told me that the Terada plant also put out the Barrington BGW-200.On a side note, the guitar I am selling was used on quite a few professional recordings in California back in the 90's, which include a bunch of Sega Saturn video game soundtracks, such as Cyber Speedway. These recordings were produced by Spencer Nilsen, who has worked with a variety of artists; he also composed many video game soundtracks such as Sonic CD (North American version), Ecco the Dolphin on Sega-CD, etc.I inherited this guitar from the original owner, who had used it religiously since purchasing it in 1989. He went on to play it in some of the above-mentioned original recordings. The rest is a story for another day...Personally, I am a professional keyboard player, not a guitarist - so I thought I would give someone the opportunity to access this at a reasonable price. I am attached to it for personal reasons, but it is simply too beautiful to just have hanging on the wall.I will try my best to answer any questions you may have, and appreciate you taking a look at this lovely Washburn gem..If anyone knows more than I do about the HB-60, or if you feel some of the information I was given is wrong, please let me know. Thank you!Make sure to view and zoom in on the 12 photos for a closer inspection (ignoring the dust, of course - ha!). The serial number can be seen there as well, if that means anything to you.I will ship this guitar with extra care, in a guitar case. If someone in the Nashville or TN area is interested, contact me and maybe we can work out a local pickup, etc. I prefer US shipping only on this one, due to size and price. There is no reserve, just my minimum starting bid (which I believe is very fair), and the buy it now option. If someone is interested in purchasing, we can change shipping methods if requested; for now I am trying to keep it as affordable as possible for the buyer.Cheers! Thanks for looking...
