1964 Burns Nu Sonic electric guitar with hard caseThe internal sticker date for this Burns Nu Sonic states that it was built on the 13th July 1964. PART EXCHANGE CONSIDERED for an interesting guitar or vintage drums.It’s a great little short scale guitar (23 ¼”) in nice condition. The action is good and could be lowered further. These Nu Sonics were a short production. They were made in the UK between 1964 and 1966. They replaced the original Sonic and sported a new cherry red finish. This particular guitar has a lovely patina / colour fade & now shows the grain of the solid body. There are a few lacquer cracks as shown in the images. I’ve specifically shown one lacquer crack each side of the neck pocket. They are only cracks in the lacquer and there are some small chips in the lacquer on the edges. As this Burns Nu Sonic is from the early production years, it sports the rarer “Burns London” rather than the “Baldwin” label. One of the original pickups has been replaced but it works well enough. The jack plug has been replaced. The electronics all work although the switch is a little floppy at times. The fingerboard and frets are in good condition. This guitar has a truss rod, adjusted at the body-end. The back of the neck is pretty smooth with the exception of a few dings as shown in the images. It retains the original bridge, enclosed tuners and control knobs. This Burns Nu Sonic guitar will be supplied in a period hard case that has been modified to make this lovely vintage guitar feel comfortable by the original owner.
