After years of loyal service, I am letting go of my prized possession. This a wonderful example of the '89 Custom 24 range, and with the 10 Top quality flame finish. But it is not without its issues and I will go into full detail as I absolutely don't want any confusion, or for any would-be owner to feel misled.
Shown in the image is the original purchase receipt from 1989 with the instrument costing £1520, which was at the time the going rate for a Custom 24, 10 Top PRS.The guitar plays like a dream and sounds awesome.I would gratefully request that anyone who is serious about making this purchase, to please come and play it before making any kind of bid or offer. My wish is that it will go to someone who will appreciate this awesome instrument for what it is.
The neck profile is similar to a current "Pattern Vintage".There are a couple of tiny knocks on the top and back edges towards the bottom of the body, but are almost invisible when playing. The neck/headstock has had to be re-nitroed as many years ago it suffered with an unfortunate collision, and the lower portion of the headstock (typically though the machine head holes) split. This was fixed back and re-finished to a masterful level, and in no way has ever effected the playability of the instrument.I have taken the best images I can but of course please feel free to ask for any further details.Although as can be seen in the image of the back of the headstock, in refinishing the nitro after the repair, the original serial and "10" denoting the 10 Top designation, were removed. The luthier who made the repair, opted not to hand write the serial as it would have originally been, and could not replace the "10" marking.I have included images of the pickup cavities which show the serial and QC marks.2 of the original locking winged collars have been replaced with original PRS collars, but note, the stopped stamping them with PRS some time ago.The pickup selector knob as cracked some years ago but has never been loose of come off the guitar. This is however a great repair and should not effect the decision of a player who would love just the guitar for what it is.Please do come and give this amazing guitar a play and a chance.
