Ref.# 00549: This is a beautiful 1968/1969 Gibson EB-1 Electric Violin bass. Second of its kind, this bass is made of mahogany, has a beautiful deep Walnut stain, sports a Rosewood fingerboard and single humbucking pick-up. The bass functions to perfection, has a GREAT sound and plays quite grand. Like most vintage gear of this age, there are a few nicks, but all in all she's about a 7.5 condition. As you can see there's typical lacquer checking of that era, all of it adding to its incredible character. There is a small fissure on the the side of the guitar's neck. We're not sure what this is from but it blacklights perfectly. These basses were said to have gone into production in '69 but the headstock is marked as a '68. We've confirmed that they did start producing this re-issued version in that year. As you can see in the pictures, she comes with her beautiful original hard shell case!
