Up for sale, a 2008 Fender Jazz Bass, "Crafted in Japan" with a rare Ocean Turquoise Metallic finish. This 1962 reissue (model JB62-83US) Jazz Bass is simply a beautiful instrument, and the tone and feel easily match its good looks. Weighing a comfortable 9lbs, this Jazz Bass has a very solid feel with the bridge pickup providing an aggressive, yet full tone that accentuates the growl of a set of fresh roundwound strings. The neck pickup has a nice thump and presence as well, and the two single coils compliment each other nicely, with what we feel is the best sound the bass has to offer, equal parts midrange punch and low end warmth. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this JB62 Jazz Bass plays well with low action, 45-100 roundwound strings and spot-on intonation. The neck has Fender's traditional 1 1/2" Jazz Bass nut width, with a full 34" scale and a slab rosewood fretboard on the one-piece maple neck. The frets show virtually no wear, with a fairly slender vintage width, well rounded crowns and no buzzing or dead spots. On the headstock, the tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The lightly ambered peghead sports the correct '62 style "Fender Jazz Bass" decal, along with original chrome tuning machines with clover buttons and even the extra strap button seen on vintage Fenders until 1967.All of the electronics work as they should, with stock pickups and pots. This Jazz Bass also features factory installed USA-made Jazz Bass pickups (the same ones seen on the American Standard models) which are a notable improvement on the tone of lower tier reissues. The chrome bridge and control plate have great shine and no notable wear, and the white three-ply pickguard contrasts nicely with the Ocean Turquoise Metallic finish. Additionally, this bass has been fitted with a pair of USA-made genuine Fender chrome bridge and pickup "ashtry" covers, along with a finger rest to complete the vintage look. The instrument is particularly well cared for, with a couple small dings on the bass side body horn seen in the closeup photo, and a few pin head sized nicks and faint finish scratches on the instrument as a whole. As the photos show, this is a very clean and finely crafted instrument.Manufactured exclusively for the domestic Japanese market, these basses are rarely seen outside of Japan.  With Fender's recent decision to discontinue many of the Japanese reissue models, these instruments are quickly becoming much more rare and sought after, with custom color examples commanding a premium!
The original Fender gigbag is included.
