Up for sale, a 1992 Fender Stratocaster '54 vintage reissue in 100% original condition and in good working order. An early "Made in Japan" reissue of the Stratocaster's first year of production, this guitar was made in the famed Fujigen factory, known for its quality craftsmanship and adherence to vintage specifications. Complete with its stock trem arm, this Strat has weathered the last quarter century in style, with a tone that delivers the clarity, sparkle, and twang one expects. The weight is 7lbs 12oz, and we've had the guitar dialed in here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with fresh 10-46 strings and low, comfortable action. The one-piece maple neck has a slender soft V profile that fills out to a medium C shape further up the neck. The profile has a smooth amber tinted gloss finish and the fretboard retains the original slender vintage-style fretwire on a 7 1/4" radius. Previous owners of this instrument didn't venture far outside the "cowbody chord" area, so while there is notable fretwear on frets 1-4, the frets are otherwise very clean up the neck. There is no buzzing or dead spots anywhere on the neck, and all notes ring out clearly. The nut measures just a hair over 1 5/8" in width and the headstock has features which reflect the '54 reissue model, including the round string tree, spaghetti logo and Kluson-style tuning machines. On the body, all of the electronics work as they should, and everything is exactly how it was when this guitar left the factory with untouched wiring. Consistent with early Fujigen-made Fenders, the pickup covers are a darker shade of cream, contrasting with the one-ply white pickguard and lightly aged knobs. The vibrato works smoothly with a full size zinc block that adds to the resonance and sustain of the instrument. Just like a genuine Pre-CBS Strat, the neck is pencil dated, reading 3-2-92, which also corresponds with "L" prefix serial number at the neck heel.In terms of cosmetic appearance, the only notable wear is a small chunk missing at the tip of the headstock where this Strat undoubtedly got in an argument with a cymbal. Aside from that battle scar, there are some small nicks and finish dimples around the body contours and on the back of the guitar, as well as some light pick scratches in the pick path.A Fender gigbag is included.
