Here is an amazing chance to own the iconic jazz guitar. An example from 1966, this guitar is in excellent condition and plays superbly. A stunningly beautiful archtop, the 175 is probably the most famous jazz guitar in history, played by a host of top jazzers since its introduction in the 1940s, and other guitarists such as Steve Howe. It has a warm and enticing acoustic sound, but plug it in and you are transported to a vintage woody Gibson heaven. The original Gibson humbuckers sound fantastic on clean, with that revered Gibby growl and bite when comping, but this is no one trick pony. It overdrives like only a vintage Gibson can, with superb sustain and complex, rich mids. Built for complex playing techniques, the incredibly slim '60s neck plays like butter, and the low action and wide frets let you skip around the fretboard with ease. It's a pleasure to play. The guitar is in excellent condition for its age. A very small hole (for an alternative strap button) has been filled on the underside of the neck heel, and there is the inevitable checking in the vintage Gibson gloss lacquer, but no significant dings to the body. The trapeze is a replacement (although it does not look new) and the original trapeze is included in the case, along with a wooden saddle if one wishes to install it. The additional numbers stamped below the serial number were most probably added to the guitar for security during time in a collection, and look as if they were previously covered with a plate. It is in overall excellent condition for a nearly 50 year old guitar! Comes with a modern fitted Gibson hard case.We are an established high street music centre in Knighton, Powys.
