This is a mid-late 1930's Dobro Model 35 (M 35). It is the RARE "Fiddle Edge" metal body with the SEGMENTED F-HOLES! The segmented F-holes are the most rare. these are usually seen with "+" holes. It also has a factory pickguard (see 2nd photo). I removed it to play and put it in the original hardshell case. The finish is original, but it's very, very worn and flaked. At some point (I'm guessing 40+ years ago), an owner added some old Meyercord waterslide decals- 1) of a Rebel Flag to the front, and 2) the Mexican War flag with The Alamo scene on the back. Those really add to the overall mojo and vibe. I left them on, but, they have chipped away and could be removed if you wanted to do that. There is obviously a considerable amount of wear to the body. It just looks amazing! The neck is a round neck. The finish has long worn away on the back. I added a thin coat of nitrocellulose to make sure the wood was protected when I acquired it sometime ago. The action is comfortable and you can fret the strings as well as get some incredible bottleneck slide tones out of it. There is some evidence that someone, during its lifetime, seems to have added, or enhanced the fretboard markers. It's possible it was played as a Bluegrass dobro. The tuners ARE ORIGINAL as well! The peghead has a cool celluloid veneer, looks like from a drum shell, with the Dobro logo. There is a You Tube video (go to you tube. com and add this extension-  watch?v=YGjbgEzbYsk) that I attached where you can get an example of the playability and sound. I played a few minutes on my iPad in Open G tuning. In person, it sounds like the Clapton/Duane Allman "Mean Old World" duet.  The projection is profound and it is LOUD! It projects and cuts through very well. It responds perfectly and has the look, feel, sound and presence of a guitar that you'd find at a fish fry in rural Mississippi in the Depression-era and a blues wizard coaxing some juke-joint tones out of it. The case is still in very good condition. The case is actually in better shape, cosmetically, than the guitar! Go figure! If you're looking for a Delta Blues resonator machine that just exudes the most incredible character ever, this is unbeatable.I ship international
