Hi, and thank you for looking at my ad.  My name is Jeff, and if you want an in-hand demonstration of this guitar, please contact me and we can set up a call, or FaceTime (if you have access to an iPhone).  I want to do everything possible to make sure you're confident when you bid.  You can reach me on my cell at 847 571 8885.Overview
This is a rare 2001 Taylor 810CE-LTD with a gorgeous Brazilian rosewood back, spruce top, and Taylor's excellent on-board electronics.  It is a dreadnought body with a cutaway, 1 3/4" nut, Tusq nut and saddle, and original Taylor case.
ToneEnormous.  Canyon-like.  I'm serious.  The tone is majestic and deep, yet the highs shimmer and ring with incredible harmonics that ring forever. It's like playing in a stone cathedral.  The sound is complex, chiming, and almost 12-string-ish.  With a pick, notes seem to pop out with percussive force more than other guitars.  It's like the way fresh tennis balls bounce versus old ones.  I can't exactly explain why that is, except to say that this guitar has "it", and many guitars I've owned just don't.  But here's the thing:  I play a LOT of fingerstyle with fairly short nails, and fingerstyle on most dreadnoughts just don't sound that great to me.  I don't generate enough force to drive the top, so most dreads sound sort of thumb-ish.  But this guitar is as responsive as and melodic as a small-body OM or OO.  Just meatier and so much fuller.  It is incredibly versatile.  I've had the privilege of owning many high-grade guitars over the years (many more than I deserve).  Collings, Martins, Goodalls, Santa Cruz's, many boutique builders, etc.  And this Taylor is at the very top of that list.  I used to think the whole Brazilian rosewood thing was sort of overblown.  I'd had mediocre Brazilian guitars.  I've also played many Taylors that sound much more watered down.  But in this guitar, the Brazilian back, the build, and 16 years of play has combined to create an instrument that is just sonically superior.  I don't know how else to say it.ConditionOverall, this guitar is in excellent condition.  The neck is straight and stable.  There are no cracks or structural damage anywhere.  The electronics work perfectly.  It has lived its life in a strict humidity-controlled room, and played in basically two places:  on a couch, and infrequently at church.  There is some limited pickwear just above and to the right of the pickguard.  I've included close-ups of that area.  It is difficult to photograph, and hard to see unless you're really close and in the right light.  Other than that, there is a single very small ding on the top and that's about it.  MeI've taught Business Ethics on the college level, so I feel I have a moral imperative to be truthful and ethical.  Check out my 100% rating.  I take buying and selling very seriously, and want to be sure you are thrilled with anything you buy from me.  I've bought and sold over $100,000 worth of guitars over the years.  But I'm not a dealer or a shop.  I'm just a player who loves guitars (and has owned more than he deserves). Guitars are about fun and good feelings for me.  This is a lot of money (at least it is to me), but I would rather lose your sale than do or say something unethical and live with that sleazy memory my whole life.  It's just not worth it. You
All I ask is that you treat this transaction as seriously as I do.  If you do not live in the USA, please contact me before bidding.  I will sell internationally, but you will be responsible for shipping (which can be a lot) and any VAT or local taxes.
