Antique Martin UkeleleI wish I could tell you the specifics of this ukelele (like wood type, year of manufacture, type, etc.) but I'm just not that schooled in these instruments. With that in mind, I'll do my level best to explain it in as much detail as possible and then answer questions as they come along. What I've been told is that this ukelele has been in the same family for 3 generations and was owned by the grandfather of the current owner. She believes he bought it roughly 100-120 years ago. Her grandfather told her it was made in the mid-to late 1800's. I don't see any markings in the inside of the body, but the back of the headstock is marked "C. F. Martin & Co. Nazareth, PA". Hopefully this will match up with what you are seeing. If not, please know that I'll adjust the listing to reflect educated information on the instrument.Condition: From what I can see the ukelele is in good, playable condition.  I don't see any cracks, splits or other such issues. The finish is worn from years of playing and enjoying, but all issues look to be cosmetic. Supposedly, the back was repaired or replaced at some point. The brother of the owner once hit her over the head with it and i guess the back cracked. She survived the incident, the brother just barely did, and the ukelele was repaired. She couldn't remember exactly what was involved in the repair, but hopefully the photos give some indication. The length is 21" and the width at the widest point is 6-1/4" I took the ukelele to a local used guitar shop and the gentleman looked it over and gave it a thumb's up; in other words, no significant issues that would warrant mention in his opinion. He said it was a great example of a very old, authentic Martin. Shipping: I'll wrap the instrument in bubble wrap and then surround it with packing. That is, unless you'd prefer some other form of packing. If you let me know your specific preferences I'll do my best to meet them.
