* Point of Interest: According to my contact at Yamaha, the G-280A was never imported into the U.S. for sale. While the G-280A was being made (1972-1974), it was their top-of-the-line “G” series classical and was available in Japan. The highest grade Yamaha imported to the U.S. was the G-250. (I would guess that this was because Yamaha decided they couldn't produce enough of their flagship G-280A to satisfy the demand in both Japan and the U.S.)

But with a second sound port, the artist gets to appreciate both the dynamics and the subtleties of his/her playing as heard by the audience.     Or to put it differently, with this second port the guitar sounds ~30% louder and clearer to the person playing it. SOUND:    This guitar has a strong, clear projection and very pleasing resonance, as expected from a top-of-the-line 40 year-old guitar. Its full, crisp voice in the treble, middle, and bass registers is because the top is solid spruce and has "opened up" to attain its mature voice.     Action on frets is perfect; no bowing of the neck. (See photo #12 for actual string-fret measurements.)    With a little loving care this guitar should sound and play beautifully for another 50+ years.FINISH:     8+/10 ... The original high-gloss finish is generally in excellent condition. (Please see my high-res photos.)    There are two small chips-dings in the finish. Also, it appears that someone tried using a guitar pick as there is some roughening of the finish adjacent to the sound hole. (see photos). However, I don’t think any of these are noticeable (unless you know to look for them).SHIPPING, Etc.:    FREE Shipping to 48 continental United States
(Alaska, Hawaii & Territories add $70.00 ... I'll gladly ship worldwide, but you must contact me for a shipping quote before purchasing this guitar)
Your guitar will ship insured ... paid by me ... well-packed and with strings loosened.    The current strings are D'Addario Pro Arte EJ-45LP. Depending on your altitude and humidity, you may like another brand. By all means, do try different strings as you go along. Thanks for looking ... and happy playing!
