For sale or possible trade is this 2014 Fender 1951 Telecaster Heavy Relic in Dirty White Blonde, built under the control of Paul Waller in Fender’s Custom Shop. This thing is a true masterpiece in modern-day electric guitar building, and pays homage to a famously transitional year in Fender’s history. Weighing in at only 6.4lbs, this tele is incredibly resonant and lively! The one-piece ’51 Nocaster-style lightweight ash body rings like a bell, and the quartersawn ’51 “U”-shaped maple neck has just the right amount of beef for tonal bliss and comfortable playing. The modern 9.5” radius is a nice touch, and accounts for some easy bends and smooth action. This tele is loaded with hand-wound ’51 Nocaster pickups, and is finished in a thin-skin nitrocellulose lacquer and given a heavy relic treatment to replicate the natural aging, wear and tear of a well-played 65-year-old instrument. The aged gold hardware compliments the Dirty White Blonde finish, which has a sweet Mary Kaye vibe to it.
