Item Description
2011 Gibson Faded Flying V Electric Guitar in very good condition with a few light dents, dings and scratches on the back. The front has minimal playwear and a few small dings. There are 3 holes behind the tailpiece from where a Gibson vibrola style tremolo was installed. The tremolo has been removed but is included. Nice worn cherry finish on the mahogany body and neck with a white pickguard and chrome hardware. The guitar has a nice, low action and the slim taper neck with a baked maple fretboard and pearl dot inlays has a great feel. The frets are smooth and in excellent condition. The original pickups have been upgraded. The neck pickup has been upgraded to a Gibson Super 57. The bridge pickup has been upgraded to a Seymour Duncan Black Winter pickup. These pickups are impressive sounding. Each pickup has a description written below. The upgraded pickups and the baked maple fretboard add up to a sweet tone with an aggressive bite with clarity. The guitar is equipped with a tune-o-matic bridge, stop bar tailpiece and Gibson Deluxe green key tuners. Looks, plays and sounds great at just over 6 lbs.  Includes an Epiphone hard shell case and the vibrola tremolo. Made in the USA.   Serial Number: 131911493 Weight:      6 lbs.     3 oz.Gibson Super 57Gibson's new Super ’57 pickup features more windings for a hotter output, producing sweet vintage tone with extra sizzle.Among the qualities that make Gibson's original "Patent Applied For" humbucking pickups so unique are the subtle variations between coil windings. For the first few years of their productions—1955 to 1961—Gibson's PAF humbuckers were wound using imprecise machines, resulting in pickups with slightly different output and tone. The 'Super '57 pickups is the result of Gibson's drive to capture and recreate this characteristic.. The Super '57 has a wide frequency response and increased output. The Super '57 is made by Gibson to the exact same specs as the original PAFs, including Alnico II magnets, nickel-plated pole pieces, nickel slugs, maple spacers, and vintage-style, 2-conductor braided wiring. Gibson added poly-coated wiring, which improves consistency by eliminating thick or thin spots on the wiring, and wax potting, which removes all internal air space and any chance of microphonic feedback Seymour Duncan Black WinterSeymour Duncan's Black Winter Humbucker Electric Guitar Pickup was desgined to be as dark as the winters in Scandinavia where black metal lives and breathes with excessive grime and aggression. Trick out your favorite axe to give it the right balance of mids, treble and bass for nailing annihilating riffs or articulately cutting solos. Extreme metal guitarists will enjoy the Black Winter's crushing distortion, punishing mids and tons of aggressive saturation.Baked Maple Aging maple through a “baking” process called torrefaction. The wood is kept at 200-300º F for a period of time until the wood knows it’s no longer a tree; Moisture is restored under pressure. This makes the wood very hard, sonically “live” and extremely stable. The snappy sound of ebony, with the look of medium-brown pau ferro. Many boutique manufacturers are now using this because it improves the wood with no chemical treatment, it’s environmentally friendly and is great for making better sounding and playing guitars!
Flying V Faded

A certain aura of mystique surrounds the Gibson Flying V. A guitar well ahead of its time when it was introduced in 1958, the Flying V’s intense magnetic appeal, powerful sound, and unusually familiar shape have made it one of the most instantly recognizable guitars in the world. Legendary Gibson President Ted McCarty was looking to add a futuristic aspect to the company’s image when he introduced the Flying V, and he nailed it. And while some of the greatest guitar players of all-time—including Lonnie Mack and Albert King—immediately embraced the Flying V, it wasn’t until Gibson reintroduced the guitar in 1967 that the rest of the world caught on. Guitar Gods like Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Winter, Billy Gibbons, Michael Schenker, and Lenny Kravitz have all succumbed to the Flying V’s fascinating allure.
OVERVIEW The faded finish gives it the look of a seasoned performer.
The Gibson Faded Flying V was born to rock. When the original V came out in '58, it was ahead of its time. When it was reissued 9 years later, it became a favorite of progressive rockers and still is to this day. This Faded Flying V has all the features and specs of the '67 model and the look of a guitar that has been loved and cared for since those early days.
