Own a piece of Dean Guitar history! This is Dean “Lost 100” Flying V 77 00001, or… Lost 100 Flying V Number 1. In 1977, Dean numbered its first production guitar “101” (actual number: 77 00101). For its 30th anniversary, Dean created the “Lost 100” series, a limited run of 100 different guitars built to the original 1977 specs and signed by Dean Zelinsky himself. This is guitar NUMBER ONE, which means it bears the earliest Dean production serial number. This particular guitar, chosen to represent the line, appears to be modeled after the first Dean unfinished prototype from 1976, a cherryburst Flying V. The flame maple finish on this guitar is simply unbelievable. This guitar is mentioned as part of the company’s history on . It also possesses one of the tell-tale signatures of early Dean Guitars: it’s a featherweight and resonant as can be. Other production runs including the recent limited run of 35 “77 Flying V” guitars look similar, but I played one and the difference in weight is night and day. The guitar is completely original and still has the plastic film covering the rear cavity. It has one ding on the lower bout, as shown in the photo – otherwise perfect. It comes with the original hardshell case, Certificate of Authenticity, reproduction of the original Dean ad, and tags.
