*** My apologies to prior bidders, but I ended this auction early and relisted the item so I could add a picture of the top/table separation, which I only recently noticed had not been included. The opposite site of the lower bout looks basically the same. I took the opportunity of the relisting to do a little more research, thus I now know that the violin was build in 1950, etc. ***For sale is my late Father's Kay Bass Viol. He played it in college (University of Wisconsin - Stout - see photo) in the early 1960's and kept it on display in the house from that time until his passing. I don't know much about it aside from that. I've never heard it played. It shows signs of use, as can be seen from the photographs. It would appear to be complete though, with all original parts. There is some separation of the top/table from the sides, particularly on the sides of the lower bout and one upper corner of the waist. The wood looks nice, especially the back. If you're looking for an authentic - and authentically worn - vintage base, this might be just for you.Note: Information such as the year of manufacture came from the website KayBass.Regarding shipping: You have two options: either local pick up or arrange for transportation. The dimensions I've given for this are just a guess on my part, but I imagine you will have to arrange for it to be transported as freight. It is at my mother's house and she will NOT be able to package it for you. She might be able to physically transport it a short distance (i.e. less than 50 miles) to drop it off at an airport or something like that. We'll do our best to help you out. You must simply bear in mind that it's big - and you need to figure out how to transport it. The buyer is also responsible for the costs of transportation.
