Up for sale, a 1961 Guild T-100-B "Slim Jim" archtop electric guitar in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. This early and rare blonde finish T-100 features a full 16" lower bout, arched maple top, and the original Franz single coil pickup which has much in common with a P-90 in terms of output and tonal characteristics. Currently strung with roundwound 12-52 strings, the tone is detailed and clear, with great midrange cut, top end snap and focused bass accentuated by the inherent attack and clarity of the maple body. The guitar is also featherweight at 5lbs 14oz! We've had this guitar professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with optimal action and accurate intonation. The neck has a comfortable medium C profile with just enough roundness in the shoulders, a full 1 11/16" nut width, and Brazilian rosewood fretboard. The original frets are in great shape, having been leveled and crowned in their lifetime and currently show light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-5, as well as light wear into the fretboard itself on the treble side from frets 1-3. There is fainter flattening of the crowns until fret 7, and further up the fretboard there is virtually no wear. The guitar plays cleanly in all positions with notes that ring out clearly and no buzzing or dead spots. The early open book headstock retains the original tuning machines which still turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should with particularly clean plating. The "Guild" inlaid logo and crown is also in excellent shape. All of the electronics work as they should, with master Volume and Tone knobs that turn smoothly with original transparent DeArmond knobs and chrome "G" caps. The carved Brazilian rosewood bridge is a truly spectacular cut of wood, with a prominent grain pattern of dark black and chocolate stripes. The chrome tailpiece, original pickguard and molded Franz pickup cover are all intact and clean as can be too! Visible through the bass side F hole, the original paper label is near mint with handwritten model and serial number info. The blonde finish is vibrant and lightly ambered, with virtually no lacquer checking! The neck profile has been refinished with glassy smooth nitro lacquer, while the body finish is 100% original with no touchup or overspray. The guitar is crack-free, the top and back have a smooth, consistent arch, and the only finish wear of note is one dime sized spot central to the back, as well as wear down to the bare maple on the bass side lower bout of the body. Overall this is a particularly well kept, collector-grade Guild!
The original brown chipboard case with leather binding is included. This case is near mint with original working latches and handle.
