REAL DEAL early 1999, most likely one of the first Custom Shop Relics Fender Built, one of the first not to be done by Cunetto!In 1999 Fender chose to age these guitars in house just like this Strat that was made in the transitional weeks right after Cunetto era, when they turned to John Cruz and his team as he had worked on many of the guitars that Cunetto had aged. And YES, it's true, 1999 Custom Shop was not many made! The number of guitar they produced at the early stages were much lower than nowadays. Attention to details and even quality of wood was better then!The five years between 1995 and 2000 are, by far, the best in the custom shop history. The best quality, the best wood, the best sounding strats ever produced. All these Strats from this Era Rock! Even the most critical Fender forums state that these are fantastic instruments!Very cool weather checking – even has the different “RELIC” stamps in body, like old days of Fender… Now days computers and CNC machines build your Strat. NOT to much hand made. Old days ARE gone, ABBY has retired and a brand new one, street price, run for $4900 or so… The fit, finish and esthetic appeal of this Strat is amazing!“April 29 1999” ink stamped and also penciled on the neck heel (). Neck is also signed (penciled) by Herb Gastelum and this is a very distinctive sign on high exclusive instrument. These are one of the coolest Limited Run guitars ever, this is # 0128 out of 1954 produced (that is numbered on the back of the Headstock), its 2-tone Sunburst finish is flawless over a stunning figured wood grain swamp ash body, that you won’t find that in todays Strats; a superb 1 piece maple neck has a beautiful yellowed patina.
