This a 1987 Fender Stratocaster Plus guitar, made in Corona, CA, USA. The body, neck, Wilkinson nut, Sperzel tuners, bridge and all other hardware are original. The pickups and electronics are professionally installed New Old Stock Fender Lace Sensor Gold pickups with all new Fender/CTS posts, TBX Tone Control, Fender 5-way switch and Fender pickguard. This body was originally Lake Placid Blue but had quite a few chips on it, so I had it professionally refinished by Pat Wilkins (WilkinsGuitars Calafornia), arguably the best guitar finisher in the world. Pat uses a thinner finish than Fender did, allowing the body to resonate better; the original finish can be seen in the neck pocket and the "X" that he left in the body route. The Strat Plus Series was introduced by Fender in 1987 and was the highest end production model next to Fender's Custom Shop guitars. This Strat Plus is basically a hotrodded American Standard: it retains the alder body, maple neck, and modern tremolo bridge but adds three Lace Sensor pickups (single coil tone with higher output and no noise), LSR roller nut and Schaller locking tuners (for greater tuning stability). This guitar is used but is in Very Good - Excellent Condition: the only appreciable wear are a small indentation on the back body contour and a couple on small shallow indentations on the back of the neck (as pictured). The neck is straight, the frets have been professionally levelled, dressed and polished and the truss rod works in both directions. The action has been professionally set low with a new set of strings and the guitar plays beautifully. The original Fender molded hardshell case and tremolo arm will be included.
