Handmade in the UK by Stuart Wailing Resonators.
15" scale concert resonator ukulele.
Semi solid walnut body with carved out sound well.Through the body neck design.Ebony fretboard.
Fitted with a piezoelectric pick-up and an end pin jack.Nickel plated front plate and tailpiece.Lacquered to a mirror finish.Pearloid position dots and white side dots.Bone nut.Ebony bridge on a Utile biscuit. This ukulele is a brand new, hand made instrument made by Stuart Wailing at Stuart Wailing Resonators in Newcastle upon Tyne in the UK.I usually make resonator mandolins and ukuleles to order with either wooden or nickel plated brass bodies. Examples of which can be seen elsewhere on the net. This semi-solid wooden body is of my own design, creating a sound between a metal body and a traditional wooded bodied resonator. The solid wooden body resonators have a warmer tone compared with my brass bodied instruments which are brighter and sharper sounding.I make these in the wood of your choice, but mainly in utile (a mahogany like wood). This is the first in walnut, a beautiful deep chocolatey brown. The body is solid walnut with a through the body neck for improved tone and carved out sound well and sound chambers. Lacquered with polyurethane and polished to a mirror finish. The pick-up is made in the Stuart Wailing Resonators workshop; a light weight design specifically to fit directly to the rim of the cone for an improved reproduction of the resonator sound compared to a biscuit fitting. The cone is spun in the workshop from 0.15mm aluminium alloy specifically for the lighter ukulele strings and has helical corrugations for added strength. I make the front plate and tailpiece from 1mm brass which is then nickel plated.
