Up for sale, a 2004 Fender Jazzmaster '62 reissue electric guitar in exceptional condition and perfect working order with a custom color Lake Placid Blue finish. This model was made exclusively for the domestic Japanese market and not intended for export, so it's quite uncommon outside its country of origin. Although officially designated the JM66 model, the features of this Jazzmaster are actually associated with a '62 reissue, with dot inlay on the slab rosewood fretboard, a "Spaghetti" logo, and Strat style knobs. A textbook example of everything we love about the Jazzmaster, the instrument has plenty of twang and sparkle on tap, with a range of powerful and defined tones from the two single coil pickups, and warm, wooly sounds when switched to the rhythm circuit on the guitar's lower body horn. Weighing in at 8lbs 6oz, this is a light and resonant Jazzmaster too! Setup to perfection here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments, this Jazzmaster is dialed in and ready for the stage and studio with fresh 10-46 strings. The vintage amber tinted maple neck has a comfortable medium C shaped profile with nicely rounded shoulders and a smooth gloss finish. The nut has the traditional Fender 1 5/8" width and the slab rosewood fretboard has a rich, stripey grain pattern and dot inlay. The scale length is a full 25 1/2", and the fretboard has a vintage Fender spec 7 1/4" radius. The frets show only the faintest wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-3 and virtually no wear further up the board, and the guitar plays cleanly up the neck with solid intonation and no buzzing or dead spots. The headstock sports an Pre-CBS style "Spaghetti" Jazzmaster logo, with Kluson style tuning machines which turn smoothly and hold pitch well. All of the electronics work as they should, and the wiring and pickups are stock. The vibrato unit works smoothly, and the chrome on the bridge and vibrato has plenty of shine. The gloss Lake Placid Blue finish, white pickguard, and white plastic parts are particularly clean and minty, with only a few faint finish scratches in the clear coat on the instrument and one nick in the finish adjacent to the input jack. The "Crafted in Japan" designation and Q prefix serial number are present at the heel of the neck just above the neck plate as well. This JM66 Jazzmaster from Japan is a rare, clean example of a now discontinued and desirable model that adheres to vintage Fender specs!
