Bert Weedon Zero-OneThis is an amazingly rare guitar made in Germany between 1959 and 1962 and probably madeby Hofner or Framus considering the tailpiece, scratchplate and bridge similarities to those makers. It has a large body - sixteen and a half inches at the lower bout and three inches or so deep - finished in redwith two f shaped soundholes and the great looking raised white scratchplate which holds the two chromedpickups. There are two volume controls and one tone control plus two on/off switches for the pickups. Thereis a mini jackplug socket. The bridge is all wooden and the tailpiece very much like those of Hofner. The neck is black and is perfectlystraight - with a twenty-one fret fingerboard allvery good. The headstock has the ''Bert Weedon Zero-One''logo (partly worn away on one side), and the three on a side tuners. The label inside contains the serial number 261 showing it is an early model and has the names of the importers - Besson and Boosey and Hawkes.Only about a thousand of these were ever made and it is very difficult to find one nowadays - this isthe first I have ever seen and its in a very good original condition. The pots and switches were not workingso they have been replaced, but I have the originals too; and a new lead has been made up with the correctmini jack at one end and a normal jack at the other. It plays well acoustically and electrically and is actuallya very nice playing guitar. Please call me with any questions on 07544 887582.
