Description

Vintage 1965 Fender Stratocaster, Green Guard, L Series

For sale is my 1965 green guard L Series Fender Stratocaster.  The guitar is 100% original and in great condition.   Below this description are 45+ detailed photographs. The serial number is L70922.  The neck is in excellent condition and the original frets have no play-wear except for some minor pitting on the first and second frets. The neck is straight and plays great. The neck date code is 2 Jan 65 B.  The guitar was produced in January of 1965 and has the standard "B"neck width. You can tell by the wonderful condition of this guitar that it was not played very much. You will be very hard pressed to find a 65 green guard Stratocaster in this condition. I have had it my collection for over 10 years.  The headstock and decals are in mint condition.  The tuners are all original and have never been touched. The back of the neck shows no play wear at all. There are 4 small chips on this entire guitar which can be seen in the close-up photos below.  The guitar does have some minor dings and dents here and there, mostly on the edges, but the body overall looks great. There is no body rash in this 3 tone sunburst. The green tinted pick guard has a great patina and is in perfect condition with no cracks. The back white plastic tremolo cover does have two small corner cracks. Included in the case is the original wammy bar and ashtray bridge cover. The guitar weighs 7 pounds 13.5 ounces on my electric scale.  The electronics are all original and all of the solder joints are untouched.  The 3 CTS pots are dated 137 6505, so they were produced the 5th week of 1965. All of the electronics work great. The guitar has 3 gray bottom original pickups which sound great.  I have included many photos of the electronics below. The guitar comes with a period correct case but it is a Jazzmaster case and is a few inches longer than a regular Stratocaster case. I was told by the original owner that this was the guitar case the he received when it was purchased.  I will ship the guitar by UPS fully insured for the auction price and a signature will be required for delivery. Shipping will be $85 within the continental United States. Alaska and Hawaii will be additional so please contact me for a quote in advance and please send me your zip code. The guitar will be very well packed.  I will sell to US customers only. Bidders with 0 or negative feedback's must contact me before bidding. I have 100% feedback selling vintage guitars and amps and your satisfaction is important to me. This is a great playing and sounding guitar and it is hard to find a green guard transition Strat in this condition that has never been modified or molested.  I am thinning out my collection, so please check out my other vintage instruments and tweed amps that are for sale. Thank You
