This 1972 Stratocaster, Serial Number 35420X, is in excellent original condition. It has the classic vintage look of sunburst alder body, dark rosewood fretboard and naturally aged original hardware.It has normal but not excessive playing wear consistent with a gigged guitar that is 45 years old. I bought the guitar in 1995 from Dirk Dubois (bass player with Chain) and it will be sold complete with documentation from Dirk confirming its Australian touring heritage with Chain, Kevin Borich Express, Dave Hole Band and others. All components are original to the guitar, including tuners, headstock decal, pickguard, pickups, tone pots, bridge, whammy arm etc. A 5-way switch replaced the original 3-way back in the 1980s. Having toured regularly, the guitar had a professional re-fret with correct gauge fret wire by Brian West at Fretco in Adelaide in the 1990s. The guitar plays like butter, has great tone on all settings and is a nice weight at around 7.8lbs. Lacquer wear to the back of the neck is smooth to the touch. The original Fender case is in good condition for its age with all latches working and some original 70s accessories as shown. Offered for the first time in over 20 years, a great opportunity to acquire a fine early 70s original vintage Strat with great history, looks, feel and tone.
