This is the last of my late brothers Travis Bean guitars that I am going to sell. I was originally going to keep it but decided to let it go. This is a 1976 TB1000 Artist model Travis Bean guitar with the signature billet aluminum neck and a lovely Koa wood body. My late brother, Richard "Obe" Oblinger was a Travis Bean employee and the original owner of this guitar. After Bean closed he worked for Schecter Guitars in Van Nuys and ran their custom shop. After that he went out on his own and was a well known LA builder, repairman and restorer with a notable client list. This is serial number 331 which makes it a fairly early instrument. The serial number is stamped on the back of the neck at the base which is a little unusual but I have seen photos of other Beans with the number in the same place. The guitar has a two piece Koa wood body, machined aluminum neck and dual humbucker pickups. Fingerboard is rosewood with nice large pearl inlays. The frets look mint with no visible wear. All parts are original to the guitar as best as I know with the exception of the nut, which was replaced with a new piece cut from NOS Travis Bean nut stock. The overall condition is near mint, with very light play wear. There is one small defect in the front side of the body that looks like a small natural void in the wood that was just left and not filled. It can be seen circled in one of the photos. No other damage of any kind I can see. Knobs, switch, pickups, tuners, bridge are all correct and original. The pots all turn smooth and have the date code 1377619. As far as I can tell, the finish is original and in excellent shape. Now, some full disclosure. When I found this guitar in my brothers shop, it was partly disassembled. The pickups had been removed and the neck separated from the body. The nut was removed from the neck as well. All the parts were in a clearly labeled box, something my brother was meticulous about. Now, I'm not sure why it was disassembled but I will venture a guess. The case for this guitar was an original Anvil flight case which was lined with foam rubber. As you can see from the photos, the foam in the case has disintegrated. What I think occurred is that my brother at some point opened the case and found the foam breaking down and turning to dust. He took the guitar out and partly disassembled it to thoroughly clean it and just hadn't gotten around to reassembling it.That is my best guess based on what I found so there you go.I had the guitar reassembled, tuned and tested by Truetone Music in Santa Monica, Ca. I think they did an excellent job and they said it all went back together with no issues. The guitar comes with it's original Anvil flight case that was sold by Travis Bean for this guitar. The original receipts for the case and guitar are included. As you can see the foam in the case has disintegrated. I will bag and wrap the guitar securely so it won't be damaged in the case for shipping. The guitar weighs 10.4 lbs and the case 20.8 lbs so shipping weight should be about 32 - 32 lbs. The case measures 48" long, 6" deep, and 19" wide at the base and 9" wide at the top. You should be able to estimate shipping cost with that info.Local pickup would be most welcome. Buyer is responsible for all shipping costs and insurance. I will ship internationally but buyer is responsible for all shipping costs, insurance, and customs and import fees. The actual sales price will be declared on all customs forms, no exception!I will be happy to answer any questions.
