1963 Gretsch 6120 all original
Estimated price for orientation: 2 295 $
Category: Electric Guitars
Class:
Description Brand: Gretsch Exact Year: 1963 Body Type: Hollow String Configuration: 6 String Model: 6120 Country/Region of Manufacture: United States Dexterity: Right-Handed
Description:Everything appears to be all original and the guitar is fully functional, including the electronics and all mechanicals. The guitar is well worn as shown in the pix, but in my opinion is exactly as it should be. It feels great and magical, like a musical time machine. Yesterday I played it next to a nearly identical current model import Gretsch; while the new guitar was fine, flashy and perfect looking, this one sounded and felt better by a lot. This could be a great guitar for a collector, or a serious player who wants the real deal. Recapping the condition: The guitar is fully functional, plays very well (low action with minimal fret buzz). There's are two issues: 1. There's a bent tuning key, it will probably bend back into place without harm, but I decided to leave that up to the buyer. 2. The binding is in poor shape, as with every old Gretsch I've seen (well documented on Gretsch forums). It's called "binding rot", and doesn't hurt the functionality of the guitar. Owners may choose to replace the binding for cosmetic reasons, or leave it for authenticity. I've chosen to leave that decision up to the buyer. The original case is gone. I offer a new style case as an option ($110 upcharge); otherwise I will put it in a padded gig bag at no charge before packing for shipping (several inches of bubble wrap surround, suspension cradled in an oversize box).
