The cornet was made by Hall and Quinby and is a side action rotary valve horn. The bell reads "Made by Hall & Quinby Boston" and has very nice engraved leaf design around the name.
The bell measure 4 1/2 inches and has a slide edge separation, the over all length is 11 inches, plays in
Bb at A440.  I do not have a original lead pipe so I made one in order to play the horn.
The first and third slides have a quality repair.Hall and Quinby was established in 1865. as of 1870 name was change to Hall, Quinby and Wright.  Wright died in 1871 and the name was changed back. In 1876 Hall left the business. From the collection of the Brass Players Museum - Springfield MA
