This listing is for a custom-made, full-scale travel electric guitar designed for the professional musician who needs to travel overseas to gigs and can’t afford to risk putting their instrument in the plane’s hold. My double-cut Oakcaster guitars feature top quality pickups and all have fast, light accurate playing actions on 16” radius necks that I’ve re-fretted with jumbo wire. These guitars are designed to fit into ‘carry-on’ luggage so you can travel stress-free, safe in the knowledge that the instrument that your reputation depends on will arrive safe and sound with you. No more risk of your guitar being smashed in the hold or being lost or stolen in transit.Full gallery of pics during build process: ‘Oakcaster’ #14 has an Oak back with a book-matched quilted maple front. This guitar features a set of Bare Knuckle Pickup ‘Supermassive’ P90s wired with a 3 way micro-toggle pickup selector switch and a master volume and master tone (both CTS pots). The neck is a full-scale (648mm) neck with a 16” radius that I bought new and re-fretted with jumbo wire (as I do all my double-cut Oakcasters). It has a bone nut with the first fret action cut low for light, easy fretting. The tuners are 19:1 Wilkinson tuners which give a smooth progressive tuning operation. The neck features two M8 hex bolts that screw into threaded inserts in the neck heel for quick assembly / disassembly. The snug fit of the neck joint plus the strength of these bolts results in a dependable return-to-playing action every time the guitar is put back together on location. The bridge is a wrap-around pre-compensated unit for simplicity, stability and maximum sustain. Intonation and action are adjusted with the up/down and backwards/forwards screws. All cavities are copper-shielded and grounded to cut down on RF interference. Price includes padded Fusion gig bag.
