This Dobro was given to me as a gift when I was a teenager (over 30 years ago) from a friend who told me it was "very valuable" but I didn't know enough to ask the right questions back then!  I've kept it protected in its original case since then, only playing it periodically. It has the following markings/features which point to it likely being a 1936 model:Authentic Dobro emblemPatent pending 1,896,484 imprint above arrowhead-shaped band across cover plate.  (Patent was granted in 1933 so this Dobro was manufactured prior to 1933)White celluloid binding around the top and bottom of body - binding not around fret boardSolid headstock - no slots3 1/2" deep body (including binding) ----   3 1/4" deep (not including binding)2-tone Sunburst finish on front, back and sides of body2 screen holes19 frets with dot at the 17th fret (dot at the 17th fret were added in the mid to late 1930's)Screws around the cover plate at the 1/2 hour mark (screws at this position are found on Dobros manufactured between 1933 and 1941 (the end of Dobro production due to WWII starting)Square neckChicago built (3 serial numbers)  140  (Dobros after 1937 through 1941 serial numbers begin with letter 'A')Fan style design cover plate with arrowhead type shapeAs you can see, it has some nicks and wear from early use - as it is 81 years old. It has a small dent in the cover plate as well. I put new strings on it when it was given to me and one of the 6 strings broke and is missing, but otherwise, it sounds great and is overall in good condition.  I have the old black case which is old and definitely has some wear, but has protected it over the years.  I will pack and ship this vintage Dobro very safely to you.Thank you for looking!
