Up for sale, a 1971 Harmony H35 Batwing Electric/Acoustic mandolin in 100% original condition and in good working order. Boasting a DeArmond Gold Foil pickup, this mandolin delivers the clear percussive chop and sweet clarity of these famed pickups. With healthy output, balanced EQ, and plenty of sparkle and chime on tap, this Harmony excels as both an acoustic and electric instrument. Professionally setup with comfortable, low action and nickel strings, this Harmony H35 is a serious player's instrument with great tone and versatility.Perhaps most notably used by Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones when the band toured acoustically in 1975, Harmony's H35 model has been used by a diverse range of notable artists, from Yank Rachell (the "elder statesman of the blues") to Fleet Foxes. The neck has a medium U profile that's inviting to the hand and very easy to play, with original brass frets that retain their full, original height. The frets have faint, uniform wear on frets 1-6, with little further up the neck. The headstock sports the original black plastic overlay with an engraved "Harmony" logo and striking headstock shape which matches the batwing pickguard and asymmetrical body contours. The original Waverly tuning machines are intact and turn smoothly, holding pitch well with minty chrome platingOn the body, all of the electronics work as they should, with simple Volume and Tone controls governing the gold foil pickup.  All of the original hardware is intact including the floating rosewood bridge, pickguard, chrome tailpiece, and mini DeArmond black bell knobs. Not to be confused with the same model which was made in Japan after '72, this mandolin is an original USA made Harmony product, with the Harmony factory stamp visible through the F hole, along with the Rowe Industries, USA 1971 date stamp on the underside of the Gold Foil. The stately and original two-tone sunburst nitro lacquer finish is vibrant and striking. There are two very cleanly and professionally repaired top cracks which were recently addressed by our techs in-house here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar. Difficult to capture in the photos as they run beneath the strings, we have included one close up image showing one very slender crack parallel with the grain between the bridge and pickup. Rest assured, this mandolin has been carefully assessed in terms of structural integrity and viability for future gigging, and this instrument is in excellent shape. Otherwise, aside from a few faint scratches in the clear coat, there's virtually no cosmetic wear to report. The mandolin is visually a real stunner, with incredible chop and power from the DeArmond gold foil pickup!
