Description “EASY RIDER”GUITAR #2 via AMERICAN SHOWSTER “Customized  just for me.” [Just a note.  Everyone has an opinion.  I respect that, but PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL ME with your personal opinion about the prices of my guitars being “too high” and “more than book value”.  I am not forcing anyone to buy these instruments.  All of them come from my personal collection and the prices listed reflect their quality and uniqueness.   Thanks.] “EASY RIDER ain’t got nothing on me!” My mantra in the early 1970’s while at University in the southern USA with long hair and a nod toward the perceived, and sometimes real, inequities of the “moral world” surrounding those of us who began to see the “new world” coming from the “explosive 1960’s”.  Those of us who went from the absolute pure wistfulness of hearing “I Want To Hold Your Hand” on AM radio and finally imprinting the image of The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show on February 9, 1964 (soon to be 50 years ago the band played), to the anguish of “Eve of Destruction”, and to the magic of the Summer of Love as recorded by the DEAD, Quicksilver, Moby Grape et al, this movie, “EASY RIDER” was a personal message delivered to each of us in real time.  We saw this movie each day of our lives.  And some of us took it as a real documentary.  For me, I have now gained the grace of self-rationalization and justification to the point that I can end the movie to the satisfaction of my mind and soul. And that is:  “Billy was hurt bad-but not mortally wounded. It was a shot gun blast to his gut with his bike’s handlebars and his arm deflecting most of them.  And for Wyatt, aka “Captain America”, he broke an arm landing in a freshly plowed field after being thrown from his bike as it flew into the air and exploded from the gun shot that actually hit the back wheel hub which shattered into parts and severed the fuel line just as Wyatt leave it in an “arc of life and light (sunlight)”.  Both were rescued by a Cajun musician, Camey Doucet, who came upon them while driving to a wedding celebration where he was to play.   It was Camey who took Billy and Wyatt into his home with his wife who helped nurse them back to health.  Afterwards, Billy, left with a bad gut, and Wyatt, left with a bum arm, took up residence in the bayou where they grew certain crop plans that they personally consumed, shared with friends and sold to strangers-but only in amounts adequate to maintain a peaceful and tranquil existence. And on Wyatt’s 65th birthdate this year, Billy said to him: “Damn Captain America, you were right man, we ‘blew it’, but man that was the way it had to end so we could live”. As you can discern, this movie has lived with me for a very long time and in homage to it I have had several guitars commissioned to humor me with the mix of Wyatt’s bike and the music of the movie.  Some I will keep and some I will sell.  Here is one of them.  It is called “Easy Rider #1” simply because it is the first one done for me.  The other is called “Easy Rider #2” sine it is the second one done for me. Both share the same chassis:  the “Biker” guitar built by American Showster Guitar Company in the late 1990’s.  The details of the base guitar has listed below.  And now to the difference between the two: 1.    Color.  Notice the tone of the blue on each.  The difference is one of shading.  I like both but did two to test their reaction to light etc.  2.    Positioning of the stars with reference to the stripes.  On This one, “Easy Rider #2”, has the stars ending above the bridge pickup whereas “Easy Rider #1” has stars painted down to the base of the bridge pickup. The difference in positioning has to do with the personal perception you have of the gas tank on Wyatt’s bike compared to the tank shape of an electric guitar. Both worked for me. So you can make your own choice.  THE GUITAR. American Showster is an American Guitar Story.  The creation of the original model AS-57 was the creation of an American iconic guitar based on an American iconic car, the 1957 Chevrolet.  That was between 1984 and 1986.  During that period Kramer Guitars also became involved.  The company and the product were short-lived.  The second rendition of the American Showster guitar began once more in 1986.  One out-another in. But this AS company lasted much longer-until 2004.  And its models increased to include “The Biker” and others. These are its specifications: Alder Body. Maple neck.  Rosewood fingerboard.  25 1/2" scale / 12" radius.  22 medium jumbo frets.  Shaller tuning gears.  Shaller bar stop.  Shaller TunOMatic bridge. Master volume/tone control. Two (2) AS Custom wound coil tapped humbucker pickups.   Finish is custom painted.  And they are perfect. The photos are good but the real guitars are magnificent.    This guitar is NOS (New Old Stock) and in EXCELLENT OPERATING CONDITION.   Comes with OHSC  (Original Hard Shell Case).   We do accept trades so let us know what you have available.   About TUNE YOUR SOUND. We just want the Buyer to be pleased with her/his purchase and to not complain if there is a cat hair under the E string on the 5th fret. Our definitions used to describe condition of guitars: PRISTINE.  Very little, if any, fret wear, neck wear, body wear, scratches, dings, or other cosmetic damage.  Electronics work correctly.  Hardware works correctly (tuners, tremolo systems, bridges, and tailpieces).  Other accessories with the guitar, i.e., hang tags, tools, etc., will be noted in the ad.   Pictures in ad, or as provided later, will take precedence over any written description.ks correctly (tuners, tremolo systems, bridges, and tailpieces).  VERY GOOD.  More wear and tear than EXCELENT but still in very good cosmetic condition.  Again, the nicks, dings, etc will be described in the ad and shown in the pictures.  Hardware works correctly (tuners, tremolo systems, bridges, and tailpieces).  GOOD.  Step down from very good. Other definitions we may use: NOS.  New Old Stock.  Speaks for itself but the condition will still be rated.  PROTOS.  These are usually one of a kind prototype instrument. DEMOS (Display):  From NAMM etc. ONE OF A KIND.  Only one like it. If you have any questions about the condition of a guitar that we are advertising for sale, please ask us before you bid and we will provide you with whatever information you require to make your decision about bidding on an item.  BUT THE ULTIMATE GUARANTEE THAT WE WILL GIVE YOU ON ANY ITEM IS “YOU ARE BIDDING ON WHAT YOU SEE IN THE PICTURES AS TO COSMETIC CONDITION” AND WHAT IS LISTED IN THE AD AS TO ELECTRONIC CONDITION.  FOR NOS GUITARS, PROTOS, AND DISPLAY GUITARS, THEY ARE SOLD IN “AS IS” CONDITION. Thank you. ONE LAST NOTE:  We appreciate feedback about our offerings but please DO NOT EMAIL US ABOUT OUR PRICES. WE DO NOT BELIEVE, AND HAVE NEVER TRUSTED, “BOOK VALUE” AS A MEASURE OF VALUE FOR A GUITAR (and most other things).  Such a concept only works if you are selling in a mass market situation where one item is just like the next one off the line.  NONE OF OUR GUITARS SOLD HERE REALLY CAN BE CALLED “MASS MARKET” PIECES.  Each was purchased for a unique feature (appearance, sound, construction, craftsmanship, ownership, maker, etc) and therefore cannot be given a “book value”. SO AGAIN, IF YOU OBJECT OUR PRICE FOR THIS ITEM, THEN DON’T BUY IT BUT DO NOT TRY TO BARGAIN THE PRICE DOWN BY DEGRADING THE GUITAR OR BY “THROWING THE BLUE BOOK OR VINTAGE GUITAR PRICE BOOK AT US-WE’LL JUST THROW IT BACK, so please don’t insult us by invoking it as the word of the guitar gods.”
