Description

This is a beautiful and rare 1987 American Vintage Reissue 57' Fender Stratocaster. This investment-grade guitar is 100% original. It has all the appointments, specs, and characteristics of a 1957 Strat. This was a guitar made in limited batches and was never a standard model, proudly made in the U.S.A.  From top to bottom, this Strat rates off-the-charts. Everything looks feels very nice in your hands, & plays like butter, with all of the vintage 50's "mojo"locked in and aching to be unleashed. The pickups are awesome and  have the power, clarity & attitude that defined the sound of the decade. She weighs barely 7 lbs 5 oz's, and has a high-quality ash body that enhances the tone & sustain. The crisp, hard maple neck & fretboard add that bright and clear "snap" to every note. The gold hardware look very classy and pop out on the thin Mary Kaye trans white nitro finish, that let's you see a little bit of the beautiful grain on the premium ash body. This guitar is a great example of the quality and exquisite craftsmanship that come of the Fender factory. For a 26 year old vintage guitar it's in fantastic shape. Only a couple of minor bumps and dings (the worst being a tiny chip below the input jack plate), and nothing that would keep it from being worthy of a collection. It's not mint and has been played lovingly and sparingly but it was never abused. There is no buckle rash or nasty scratches. There is very light checking in a couple of spots that add to the character and mojo overall. This guitar will please the ears as much as the eyes and the pickups are absolutely delicious. They are very warm and responsive with the perfect amount of attack to pull of some killer blues leads.. I guarantee your 100% satisfaction on every guitar I sell, this one will absolutely not disappoint.
Often referred to as the "First Lady of Rock and Roll", Mary Kaye was a guitarist and performer who was first active in the 1950s "Vegas Lounge" scene. Mary was photographed with her combo, the Mary Kaye Trio, in a 1956 Fender promotional advertisement featuring a new Stratocaster electric guitar. This ash blonde guitar with maple neck and gold hardware later became popularly known as "The Mary Kaye Strat" which was the first custom guitar out of the Fender Custom Shop.  Fender has issued several limited runs of the 1957 Strat reissue with these iconic appointments. Aside from introducing this 50th Anniversary production,  2007 was also significant because it was, sadly, the year that Mary Kaye passed away at the age of 83...
