You are bidding on my beautiful Carvin DC400. This guitar is finished in Dragonburst with a ridiculous quilt maple top and matching headstock.
Alder body, maple and walnut neck, ebony fingerboard, 24 stainless steel frets, locking tuners, Carvin Custom pickups, AAAA quilt maple top and matching headstock in Dragonburst finish. This guitar is loaded with every available feature. There are minor signs of wear including two small impressions on the top, it is almost impossible to catch with a photograph which I have included. There is also a slight mark on the upper horn and tip of the headstock which were impossible to capture in a photograph. I just had a complete fret dressing done on this guitar and it plays like a dream. A very versatile guitar with many features. It will ship it in the original Carvin tweed case... the latches don't pop up anymore but they are fully functional. The truss rod cover was personalized and will not be included with the guitar but I will include a new one. Canada and USA shipping only, buyer is responsible for all duties and taxes. This guitar is offered for sale locally as well. I reserve the right to end the listing at any time. More Info from the Carvin Website.
The DC400A features a 3-piece body with fully rounded sides and 5-piece maple/walnut neck-through design. The back of the body is alder, the top is premium AAAA flamed maple,. Alder is a high-quality tone wood used by many manufacturers because of its relative light weight and fine resonating tone. It's slightly darker in color than maple, which accentuates the DC400A's neck. Alder also has a subtle and attractive grain that looks great in any of the Custom Shop's many finishes. The flamed top finishing process creates an almost three-dimensional effect on the top wood. For the ultimate in looks, you can upgrade your top with AAAA quilted maple, which also sports a deep finish. Additionally, the body edges are fully radiused for additional playing comfort. The standard 5-piece maple/walnut neck adds to the already great looks of this instrument, and you can choose whether you want the neck to show on the top or not. All of our necks and fingerboards undergo a long conditioning process in our de-humidification chambers to remove any stress in the wood and prevent future warping or twisting. The dual-action, fully adjustable truss rod helps keep the neck straight and true, and allows you to set the action just the way you like it. The standard headstock is a 6-inline version, and you can also choose a traditional 3 X 3, V style, CT style, pointed inline or reversed design. The DC400A comes with no headstock overlay, allowing the 5-piece neck to show, but if you prefer, you can order a AAAA flamed maple headstock overlay, or you can choose AAAA quilted maple to match an optional quilted top. A metallic gold Kiesel headstock logo adds just the right touch of class. You can personalize your DC400A with an engraved truss rod cover, adding to the uniqueness of the instrument. Smooth Neck Heel
Smooth Neck Heel
The DC400A has a standard 25" scale ebony fingerboard with genuine abalone block inlays, a 14" radius and 24 medium-jumbo nickel frets. The Custom Shop offers many fingerboard options - more options than most manufactures offer for their entire guitar lines. You can choose from rosewood, maple, birdseye maple, flamed maple or zebrawood fingerboards; and fingerboard radii of 10" or 12". Abalone block inlays are standard, but there are other choice you can make, including signature inlays and black acrylic inlays. Carvin Guitars offers a number of fretwire options, including jumbo, low-wide and stainless steel, along with gold EVO in various sizes. The "Rapid Play" low action neck assures effortless playability throughout the entire fingerboard, while the smooth neck heel allows easy access all the way up to the 24th fret. You can choose from 4 different bridges. The FT6 hardtail bridge is standard, or you can select our "M" bridge with tune-o-matic bridge and strings fed through the body for additional sustain; a Wilkinson tremolo; or a Floyd Rose tremolo with or without locking nut. A Fishman acoustic bridge, in hardtail and Wilkinson tremolo configurations, is also offered in conjunction with the DC400A's standard active electronics. Premium locking tuners with a 19:1 ratio ensure you'll stay in tune no matter what your playing style is. Standard hardware is chrome, and you can upgrade to black or gold. S22 Metal Covered Humbuckers
Optional S22 Metal Covered Humbuckers
The DC400A comes equipped with a Classic Series C22B humbucker in the bridge, and a Classic Series C22J pickup in the neck position, which are custom wound with vintage plain enamel wire that brings out the harmonically rich tone and sustain of the guitar. All Carvin Guitars humbuckers have 11 polepieces per coil, which eliminates dropoff when bending strings. Controls consist of push/pull active/passive controls with passive master volume & tone and active master volume & cut/boost for bass & treble, 3-way pickup selector, 2 dual/single coil switches and a phase switch. For added warmth, try the S22 Series metal covered pickups, which are available in chrome, black or gold to match your hardware. You can also choose from M22 Series or Holdsworth H22 Series pickups. Standard pickups have black coils and bezels, but any combination of black or cream coils and bezels are available. For the ultimate in flexibility, add the Fishman piezo acoustic bridge to create mellow acoustic tones. The DC400A is also offered in a Claro Walnut version, the DC400W. The DC400W has all the features of the DC400A, but with a 3-piece body consisting of a highly figured California Claro Walnut top, Eastern black walnut body and thin alder center. It has fully-rounded body sides and a 5-piece maple/walnut neck as standard features. You can also choose the DC400, which has many of the features as the DC400A, without the 3-piece body. The only way to appreciate the performance of a Carvin Guitars instrument is to use it in your own environment, giving it the test of "real world" performance.
