Hi Folks ... Wyatt Fawley here. I bought this really clean Acme Professional banjo mandolin out of an attic in Eastern Pa via eBay about 4 years ago and finally got around to converting it to piccolo, which was the plan from the outset.Knowing of the shortcomings of cherry Stewart necks, I opted to build the neck from straight grained maple and stained it to resemble cherry. It's pretty convincing....doesn't really look like maple. The pot is 7 inches in diameter, and the new piccolo neck is in the style of a Grade 2 Stewart Liottle Wonder. The scale length is the original 14 7/8" as used by Stewart. Included is the original Acme Professional banjo mandolin neck and dowel stick, the end opening canvas case, which needs some leather repaired in order to close.....but which will accommodate the piccolo banjo or the banjo mandolin as both are of the same relative length. The dowel stick clamp and wedges, the mandolin tailpiece and bridge aare also included. Mike Ciccora gave me an old broken Stewart dowel stick with the celluloid tag, and it worked perfectly for the conversion, but I had to use a shorter clamp, so as not to cover the "SSS" brand logo on the dowel stick. You'll notice that the instrument is strung with steel strings .... and that's simply because i can't knot a set of nylon strings if my life depended on it. I am including a new set of LaBella nylon strings for you to install, and the nut slots will need  deepened to their final depth for best playing action and least distortion when fretting at the first fret.A very cool little instrument that harkens back to the days of the banjo orchestras. Cute as a bug ... and sounds as crisp as a wax recording with plenty of volume.
