Up for sale, a 2004 Fender Jazzmaster '62 reissue electric guitar in excellent condition and perfect working order. Upgraded from stock with Seymour Duncan Antiquity I Jazzmaster black bobbin pickups, this Jazzmaster embodies the quality craftsmanship associated of the Dyna Gakki factory in Japan and boasts a Candy Apple Red custom color finish. Made exclusively for the domestic Japanese market and rarely seen outside its country of origin, this Jazzmaster was officially designated the JM66 model, although the features of this vintage reissue Jazzmaster are actually associated with an early Pre-CBS instrument produced prior to 1963. These features include dot inlay on the slab rosewood fretboard, a "Spaghetti" logo, and Strat style knobs. Acoustically resonant and weighing in at 8lbs 4oz, this Jazzmaster has a crisp and clear unplugged sound that is faithfully amplified by the Antiquity pickups. These pickups are designed to match the tonal range and detail of the earliest Pre-CBS black bobbin Jazzmaster single coils, and the Antiquity I's are notable for having a bit more of a meaty, darker sound than many of the other boutique Jazzmaster pickups on the market. With that said, the tonal palette of these pickups is wide, with plenty of twang and sparkle in addition to bark and sweetness. The bridge pickup is clear and bell-like, while the neck pickup is rounder and generally more full sounding, while selecting both pickups is truly a "best of both worlds" scenario. The Rhythm Circuit on the guitar's bass side body horn provides separate controls exclusive to the neck pickup, with an even warmer and darker set of tones that are perfect for smoothing out "ice pick" frequencies or thickening up your favorite fuzz pedal. Setup to perfection here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments, this Jazzmaster is dialed in and ready for stage and studio use with fresh 11-50 strings. The vintage amber tinted maple neck has a comfortable medium C shaped profile with nicely rounded shoulders and a smooth gloss finish. The nut has the traditional Fender 1 5/8" width and the slab rosewood fretboard has dark, tight grain and pearl dot inlay. The scale length is a full 25 1/2", and the fretboard has a vintage Fender spec 7 1/4" radius. The frets are virtually flawless, with their full factory height and perfectly rounded crowns. The neck is very straight, with a responsive truss rod, consistent, low action, and no buzzing or dead spots. The Candy Apple Red headstock sports an Pre-CBS style "Spaghetti" Jazzmaster logo, with Kluson-style tuning machines which turn smoothly and hold pitch well. All of the electronics work as they should, and aside from the upgrade Seymour Duncan Antiquity pickups, the wiring is stock. The vibrato unit works smoothly, comes complete with the original trem arm, and shines like new. The bridge is an upgraded Mustang-style unit with large barrel saddles, offering improved stability while maintaining the same string spacing as the stock bridge. Cosmetically, this is a very clean example with only a few faint finish scratches on the back and a couple tiny finish chips around the body contours. The "Crafted in Japan" designation and Q prefix serial number are present at the heel of the neck just above the neck plate as well. This JM66 Jazzmaster from Japan is a rare and well cared for example that adheres to vintage Fender specs with upgraded Seymour Duncan Antiquity I pickups! A gigbag is included.
