Up for sale is an All-Original 2001 Ratliff R-5 F-Style Mandolin In Excellent Condition. This is High-End Hand Made instrument with excellent workmanship and quality featuring: Solid Carved Spruce Top; Solid Figured Maple Back, Sides, and Neck; Ebony Fingerboard and Bridge; Bound Fingerboard and Headstock; Mother-of-Pearl Inlays; and Lacquer Finish. Nut Width 1.12" This Mandolin has been played some, but very well maintained and is in excellent condition for it's age. Structurally solid and with issue: neck is straight with some mild/visible fret wear on the 1st few frets but nothing that affects performance or that needs to be addressed; no warps/cracks/etc. - SOLID! Cosmetically overall this mandolin is very clean with no real obvious marks or issues. The most noticeable issue is the typical/minor settling that occurs with lacquer/age with the most obvious being some flame maple settling and hairline finish cracks along the seams on the headstock(see pic). There is some very minor/shallow worming on the back(see pic) but nothing thru to the finish as well as a few minor dings/marks here and there(worst pictured). For a 15+ year-old lacquer-finished instrument that's been played some, this is in excellent condition and easily an 8 and probably higher by many standards. This mandolins plays, looks, sounds amazing and needs nothing. Includes the Archtop Hard Shell TKL Case pictured. If you've been looking for one if these you'd be hard pressed to find a nicer/cleaner one if this era.
